Railways resume Passenger train services from 12th May. Bookings start today!
Indian Railways is now ready to start off it's services in full swing. It's almost one and a half months. Previously during the Lockdown, around 20,000 coaches were used up as quarantine centers for Covid-19 patients. During the Lockdown, only frieght trains and parcel special trains carrying the commodities, which are essential was only working.
Now it seems like lockdown is coming to an end and the rail starts with it's operations of the passenger trains as well.
Railways will start taking new passenger train bookings from 11th May, 4pm onwards. The ticket bookings are only possible on the IRCTC website and not offline. The trains will start running from tomorrow, i.e, 12th May 2020. Initially only 15 trains will be operating, which would be like 30 return journeys. This would be the special trains from New Delhi to Howrah, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Patna, Mumbai Central, Ranchi, Agartala, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad,Bilaspur, Dibrugarh,Madgaon and Jammu Tawi.
Only passengers having valid e-tickets will be allowed to enter the station. It's a compulsion for every passenger to wear a mask,while traveling. Only with people with no symptoms, will be allowed to board the trains.
Operations for about 300 "Shramik special" trains daily will begin for stranded immigrants.
